Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about weather, difficulty and logistics. Need more? Contact us.
Do I really pay nothing when I book?
Correct. You send a booking request with no payment details. After we confirm availability you receive an official itinerary by email, and you pay the driver or guide on the day of pick-up — cash in Indonesian Rupiah or Euro, or by credit card.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Because no money is taken in advance, there is nothing to refund. Please tell us as early as you can so we can release your vehicle and guide.
What is the weather like at Bromo and Ijen?
The dry season (roughly April to October) usually gives the clearest sunrises, but mornings are cold, often 3–10 °C at Bromo before sunrise. The wet season (roughly November to March) brings more cloud and rain, and views can be limited. Pack layers and a rain jacket.
Is the Ijen crater safe to visit?
Ijen is visited by thousands of people every year, but it is an active volcano with toxic gas. Access can be restricted when activity is high. We provide a standard gas mask and your guide follows official status and on-site instructions. People with asthma or other breathing problems should consult a doctor first.
How difficult are the hikes?
Bromo is easy: a short walk and about 250 steps to the crater rim. Ijen is moderate: roughly 3 km uphill on an uneven path in the dark, taking 1.5–2 hours up. You can go at your own pace.
When can I see the Ijen blue fire?
Only in darkness, so the hike starts around 1:30 am. The turquoise lake is visible after sunrise.
What should I wear for Bromo sunrise?
Warm layers, a windproof jacket, closed shoes, a scarf or buff for dust, and gloves in the cooler months. Bring a small flashlight or use your phone light.
How do I get to Mount Bromo from Surabaya airport?
The drive is about 3.5–4 hours by road. With us you are picked up at the airport or your hotel by a private vehicle, so there is no need to organise buses or taxis.
Do you pick up from Malang or Bali?
Yes — choose your pick-up location in the booking form. Malang is available on request, and our reverse route starts from Bali.
Can I customize my tour?
Of course. Use the Contact / Customize Tour form and tell us your dates, group size and ideas.
