Bromo Ijen Tour with Drop-off in Bali
Many European and Australian travelers combine Java’s volcanoes with Bali. Our Bromo and Ijen tour can finish with a drop-off in Bali, so you do not have to backtrack to Surabaya. You still book now and pay on arrival.
The route: Bromo, Ijen, then Bali
- Surabaya to Bromo. A scenic drive to the Bromo highlands and an early night before the sunrise.
- Bromo sunrise, then overland east. See the sunrise, walk the Sea of Sand, then drive towards the Ijen area.
- Ijen blue fire. The hike starts around 1:30 am; afterwards you rest, then continue to the Ketapang port.
- Ferry to Bali. The Ketapang to Gilimanuk ferry crossing usually takes under an hour. After landing in Bali the drive to southern Bali takes several more hours.
Timings depend on traffic and the ferry queue. After the Ijen hike you can expect to reach Bali in the afternoon or evening — we give you a realistic plan in your confirmation email.
Bali drop-off options
Tell us where you stay in Bali (for example Denpasar, Sanur, Ubud or Canggu) in the special requests of the booking form. We confirm whether the drop-off is possible and whether it changes the plan or cost before your tour — and you pay nothing until you are in the car.
Going the other way? Start in Bali
If you are travelling from Bali to Java, take the reverse route: Bali, Ijen blue fire, Bromo, Surabaya. The best order puts the Ijen blue fire first and ends with the Bromo sunrise and a drop-off in Surabaya.
Good to know
- The ferry ticket is not included in the tour price.
- Ijen access can be restricted when volcanic activity is high; your guide follows official status and local instructions.
- Read our Ijen safety and gas mask guide and the best month to visit.
