Itinerary

Day 1: Bali to Banyuwangi

  1. 06:00 – 08:00Pick-up in Bali (south Bali, Ubud or Lovina by arrangement) and drive to Gilimanuk
  2. 08:30 – 09:30Ferry crossing from Gilimanuk to Ketapang (ferry ticket not included)
  3. 10:00 – 17:00Drive in Java towards the Ijen area with relaxed stops; check in and early rest

Day 2: Ijen blue fire, then to Bromo

  1. 00:30 – 01:00Pick-up for the Ijen trailhead (Paltuding)
  2. 01:30 – 03:30Hike to the crater rim (about 3 km). Gas mask provided. Blue fire is visible in the dark
  3. 04:00 – 06:00Sunrise over the turquoise crater lake, then descend
  4. 07:30 – 09:00Breakfast and rest
  5. 10:00 – 18:00Overland drive to the Bromo area (about 6–7 hours including stops); check in

Day 3: Bromo sunrise and Surabaya

  1. 03:00 – 04:00Transfer to the Penanjakan viewpoint (4WD jeep where required by the national park)
  2. 04:30 – 05:30Sunrise over Bromo, Batok and Semeru
  3. 06:00 – 07:30Sea of Sand and crater rim walk
  4. 08:00 – 09:00Breakfast
  5. 09:00 – 13:00Drive to Surabaya, drop-off at hotel, station or airport
